Major victory in Parliament as Full Fact supporters ensure MPs fix broken corrections system
After thousands of Full Fact supporters wrote to MPs asking them to participate in a vote to change the way the corrections process works, MPs voted to fix the broken system.
As a result of this vote for change:
- All MPs will be able to correct the official record, not just Ministers.
- The visibility of corrections will be improved on the official record.
- Everyone will be able to see when MPs correct the record on an easily accessible corrections page.

If your MP makes a mistake when speaking in Parliament and wants to make a correction, they will now be able to do so. And someone looking up what your MP has said online will be able to see when they have corrected their mistake.
This change will take a little while: the House authorities and Parliamentary Digital Service will need to find the most effective way of implementing this change. But MPs have shown that they can lead with honesty and integrity, and they have made it possible for the next parliament to do so too.
This is a really important day for our democracy. Over 50,000 of you have been campaigning for this change since April 2022, and we are delighted to see that MPs have listened to our calls.
But this is just the first step. We now need to see additional measures that hold MPs to account when they refuse to correct false or misleading claims, whether these are made in or outside Parliament. Failure to do so will mean that public trust in politics will continue to be corroded.
We will continue to campaign for honesty in politics and to hold MPs accountable when they make false or misleading claims.
