Local elections: what's happening in your area?

As polling day approaches for the 2013 local elections in 34 councils across England and Wales, politicians have been ramping up their campaigning in the hope of catching voters' eyes.

We've already looked into Labour claims about the building of social housing, while the Conservatives have been campaigning hard on the claim that they are keeping council tax low.

When it comes to local elections however, what can be more important to voters is what is happening in their own area. We've therefore put together this map showing the political control of each local authority, changes in council tax levels and to the stock of social housing. If you'd like to see more data added, let us know via team@fullfact.org.

(Mapping data is missing for Cornwall and Northumberland - we're working on fixing this. Social housing data is missing for Lewisham in 2010, while 2011 data is missing for Tendring, Hounslow, Nuneaton and Bedworth, East Dorset and Winchester councils. This makes it impossible to judge the size of the chnage in social housing stock between these years.)
