Amazon is giving away parcels of appliances, including ‘sorted electronics’, for only £3.
This is not a genuine offer from the retailer. An Amazon spokesperson has confirmed the page sharing it is not affiliated with the company.
A Facebook post falsely claims that Amazon is giving away parcels of unclaimed electronic appliances “for just £3”. But an Amazon spokesperson confirmed this is not a genuine offer from the retailer.
The post appeared on a page that was created on the same day the post was shared and has only 10 followers.
It says: “Amazon is having an urgent sale on various appliances for just £3! The reason is that items that have been in stock for more than 6 months should be disposed of but the company's management has decided to give the sorted electronics to the people of the UK. The parcel may contain an iPhon Playstation and many other popular items. Follow the link in the comments or below the post and apply! [sic]”
A photo shows pallets loaded with boxes in front of what appears to be an Amazon warehouse. Several pallets have posters attached that say £3 and feature the Amazon logo, but these appear to have been added digitally.
An Amazon spokesperson told Full Fact: “This isn’t a genuine post.”
They also confirmed that the offer is not affiliated with Amazon.
Another clue that the deal is not genuine is that the ‘Apply Now’ button under the post links to an unrelated blog about electric kettles that doesn’t mention Amazon or the parcel ‘deal’.
